What’s the Best Fit for a Ring?
A ring that fits well should slip over your knuckle easily and feel secure on your finger without being too tight. You should feel a little resistance when putting it on or taking it off, but it shouldn’t require much effort.
How to Handle Being Between Ring Sizes
If you're between ring sizes, it’s better to go a size up instead of down. Finger size can change throughout the day, and a ring that’s too tight might be difficult and uncomfortable to slide over the knuckle. You can easily make a ring that’s slightly loose feel snugger at home, but resizing it to be bigger needs a professional. If a half size isn’t quite right, Contact us know we can create a quarter size to ensure the perfect fit.
Ring Size Tips
-
Your dominant hand is usually a bit larger, so measure the hand where you’ll wear the ring.
-
Keep the ring design in mind: wider bands fit more snugly, so consider going up at least half a size for thicker bands (over 4mm) and down for very thin ones (under 1.3mm). Remember, ring sizes are typically measured in millimeters (mm), not inches.
-
Make sure your body temperature is normal since fingers can shrink when cold and swell when hot.
-
Fingers can change size during the day due to hydration and food intake, so it’s best to measure in the afternoon or evening.
-
If your knuckle is prominent, measure both the knuckle and the base of your finger. Choose a size between those two measurements, as the ring should slide over the knuckle but fit comfortably without being too loose or tight.
Which Types of Rings Can’t Be Resized?
Some rings, such as eternity bands, open bands, and those made from alternative metals like tungsten or titanium, can’t be resized due to their design or material. Eternity bands, for instance, have gemstones around the band, making resizing difficult without damaging the structure. For these styles, choosing the correct size initially is essential for a comfortable fit.
